Terms

Apara
Terms of Use.

Effective 27 October 2026. Apara™ is in beta and has not had a general public release.

Not yet reviewed by an attorney. This page is written in good faith to describe the project accurately. It will be revised after legal review, and the effective date will move when it is.

Agreeing to these terms

These terms apply to your use of apara.dev and of any Apara software you obtain from us, including pre-release and test builds. By using either, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use them. Apara asks you to agree when you first open it, and again whenever these terms or the privacy policy change in a way that matters; until you agree it will not run Windows programs.

You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the European Union and the United Kingdom), and old enough to enter into a binding agreement where you live, or have a parent or guardian agree on your behalf.

What Apara is, and who publishes it

Apara is a compatibility platform for Apple Silicon Macs. It reads a Windows program, shows you the plan it intends to use, and then runs that program through a runtime it manages. Apara is published by Yogvid Wankhede as an individual (“we”, “us”). There is no company behind it at this time.

Pre-release software

Apara is in beta and has not had a general public release. Any build we give you is a pre-release build: it is incomplete, it will have bugs, it may lose or damage data, and it may stop working at any time. It is licensed to you only for personal evaluation and testing, not for production or critical use. Please keep backups of anything that matters before you use it.

Unless we agree otherwise in writing, you may not redistribute, sell, rent or publicly host pre-release builds, and you may not publish benchmarks or reviews of a build we have marked confidential. We may end your access to a pre-release build at any time.

Accounts and access

Apara checks your access with a sign-in service, using your email address (see the privacy policy). Your access is tied to the Mac you use it on; the number of Macs a plan allows is shown in Apara. Keep your sign-in secret and your email account secure, and do not share an account or sell or transfer your access. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

Beta access and free trials are offered for evaluation, last for the period shown in Apara, and may be changed, shortened or ended by us. If paid plans are offered, their price, billing and cancellation terms will be shown to you before you pay, and apply in addition to these terms. You can delete your account at any time in Apara, or by writing to us.

Updates

Apara checks for updates, and you can turn the automatic check off. An update may add, change or remove features, and we may require you to update to keep using the service.

Online games and other people’s services

Games and services have their own rules, and some do not allow play through compatibility software or may treat it as suspicious. Using Apara with them is your choice and your risk. We are not responsible for any action a game, publisher, store or service takes against you or your account, including a warning, restriction or ban, or for the loss of anything in it.

You supply the software, and its licence

Apara runs programs you already have. Except as described below, it does not provide, sell, host or distribute anyone else’s software, and it does not circumvent licensing or copy protection. Whether you may run a given program, and under what terms, is a matter between you and whoever licensed it to you. You are responsible for holding the rights to anything you run through Apara.

Apara does not redistribute Microsoft’s redistributables or Microsoft’s fonts. Where a route uses them, the files come from your own installation or are fetched by your own Mac from their publisher, under that publisher’s terms.

Apple’s Direct3D (D3DMetal) is Apple’s software, from Apple’s Game Porting Toolkit, and stays under Apple’s licence, which applies to you. It is not part of Apara. During the beta, Apara may offer beta testers a download of it through Apara, for their own use on their own Mac; you may not copy, share, sell or redistribute it, and we may stop offering it at any time. Everyone else obtains it from Apple.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Apara or this site to:

Programs you run through Apara are not sandboxed from the rest of your Mac. Run only software you trust.

What Apara will not do

Kernel-level anti-cheat systems are a platform boundary, not a bug to be worked around. Apara refuses programs that require them rather than attempting to defeat them, and that will not change. Apara also makes no attempt to bypass digital rights management.

Requirements, and no promise that a given program runs

Apara requires an Apple Silicon Mac. Compatibility is measured per program and published as measurement, never as a guarantee. Nothing on this site or in the application is a promise that a particular program will run on your machine, and a program that runs today may stop running when it, macOS, or a runtime component changes. Prices, features, reward tiers and dates shown on this site describe current plans and may change.

Our software and content

Apara’s own code, design, name and logo, and the content of this site, belong to us, apart from the open-source components listed on the open-source page, which remain under their own licences and are never restricted by these terms. Where these terms and an open-source licence disagree about an open-source component, the open-source licence wins.

Apara™ and the Apara mark are trademarks of Yogvid Wankhede. Please do not use them in a way that suggests we made, endorse or support something we did not.

Feedback

If you send us feedback, bug reports or suggestions, you allow us to use them to improve Apara without owing you anything for them. Do not send us anything confidential. We will not publish your name or your email without asking you.

No warranty

Apara and this site are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, or non-infringement, and any warranty that they will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free. Running software through a compatibility layer can fail in ways neither of us predicted.

Limits on liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for lost data, lost profits, lost time, damage to a system, or any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss arising from your use of Apara or this site, even if we were told it was possible. Our total liability for any claim relating to Apara or this site is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Apara in the twelve months before the claim, or US$50. You use Apara at your own risk, and you are responsible for your own backups.

Some places do not allow some of these exclusions or limits. Where that is so, they apply only as far as the law there allows, and nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Indemnity

If someone brings a claim against us because of software you ran through Apara without the right to do so, or because you broke these terms or the law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, to the extent the law allows.

Other people’s names and sites

Where Apara names a program, a storefront or a publisher, it does so only to identify the actual thing being discussed or measured. Those names and marks belong to their respective owners; see trademarks and copyright. Apara is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple, Microsoft, CodeWeavers, the Wine project, or any game publisher or storefront. Links to other sites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content.

Open-source components

Apara builds on open-source projects, including Wine, and complies with their licences. The components, their licences, and how to obtain the corresponding source code are listed on the open-source page.

Privacy

How we handle data is described in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

Ending these terms

You can stop using Apara at any time; data deletion explains how to remove it. We may suspend or end your access to pre-release builds, your account or this site if you break these terms, share an account, or misuse the service. If we end your access without a reason connected to your conduct during a paid period, we will refund the unused part. The sections on our software, feedback, no warranty, limits on liability, indemnity and the law that applies continue after that.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts located in St. Louis County, Missouri, and you and we both consent to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in a country whose law gives you the right to bring a claim in your own courts, or protections that cannot be waived by contract, nothing in these terms takes that away.

The rest

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later. These terms, together with the privacy policy, are the whole agreement between us about Apara and this site. You may not transfer your rights under them without our consent; we may transfer ours as part of moving the project to a company we form.

Changes, and contact

These terms change as the project does, and the effective date above moves when they do. If a change is significant, we will say so on this site before it takes effect. Questions go to hello@apara.dev.
